Hebrews 12:1

Hebrews 12:1 Let us lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the author and perfector of our faith.

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship with reverence and awe.

It is interesting here how God doesn't just tell us to lay aside sin, but rather anything that weighs us down as we are trying to seek the Kingdom and chase after Him. As the chapter continues, it describes the proper way in which we should respond to the goodness of God. As Christians, we live for something that's unchanging and steadfast. Our worship should be filled with reverence and with awe... I pray that my awe of God would increase. I pray for discernment of what's weighing me down, and for a desire to worship the Lord the way He deserves and demands to be worshiped.

Simple Pursuit

To start off this blog , I want to share my prayer for my life... (I wrote this a few months ago)

The Simple Pursuit. That’s what I want my life to look like. Nothing fancy, nothing extravagant, simply a daily pursuit of following Jesus. A daily discovery that His name is above all else, and that nothing can come close to Him. Everything else that we pursue will let us down at some point, but not Him. Intimacy with God should be our daily desire, not something we put on the back burner. Not something that we try for every now and then, but rather something that we center our life on. Instead of trying to put God “first”, it is so much more effective to put Him in the center of every area of our life. When we compartmentalize God, we belittle His power and easily get caught up in the desires of this world. My prayer for my life is that I would never lose awe of who He is. That I would never tire of the pursuit of following Jesus. That my joy would be found in the beauty of who He is, and…
